Situated at the junction of Highways 3 & 4, bordering the transition of the parkland and boreal forest; the Village of Glaslyn is considered by many to be the entrance to the Northwest area of the province and access to some of the provinces best fishing, hunting and many other recreational activities all year round.  You couldn’t be any closer to all of the amenities of the lakes without actually living in the forest. The northern forest fringe is only 15 miles to the north giving way to beautiful wildlife opportunities such as bird watching, camping, boating, fishing, and hunting as well as 10 grass green golf courses within a one hour drive.

There are many attractions in the surrounding area including Little Loon Regional Park located 4 miles East of Glaslyn on Highway 3. This is one of the nicest regional parks in the province. Little Loon Regional Park is a sparkling gem, possessing a nine-hole grass green golf course, mini-golf, numerous campsites, playground, swimming area and a beautiful lake. The park books up quickly, so don’t hesitate to call for your weekend spot!

Turtle Lake is a 25 minute drive from Glaslyn to the Northwest, Meadow Lake Provincial Park is 1 hour to the North and Jackfish Provincial Park is 20 to the South. There are many ATV trails and an established snowmobile trail in the winter season. With the Provincial Forest boundary so close, there are many species of wildlife in the area whether you are interested in photography or sightseeing.

Glaslyn was incorporated as a village in 1929 and has maintained a stable population and economy. Its residents include young families and a very active senior citizen group. Strong volunteer commitment has kept the recreational facilities fully operational for the public while maintaining the lowest user fees in the area so that all youth may have the opportunity to take part in hockey, figure skating and baseball.

Glaslyn currently has a population of 387 with a K – 12 school, full array of service and retail businesses, RCMP Detachment, recreational facilities, fully equipped well-trained fire and rescue fleet, and churches representing four denominations. Our friendly village has much to offer travelers, sportsmen, tourists or people just passing through. Our services and retail include: post office, library, museum, hardware store, fire hall, liquor vendor/gift shop, grocery stores, insurance agency, hair salons, hotel, restaurant, bank, automotive and machinery repair services, service stations, auto body shop, saw mill, real estate agency and tire repair shop.

Due to its centralized location and close proximity to the developing oil and gas fields in the west, it has a positive economic outlook. The village is planning a new subdivision and has completed a lift station upgrade with a natural gas powered genset.

In 2014, Glaslyn welcomed the addition of Primary Health Care Services. Glaslyn now has a Medical Clinic open two full days a week with Nurse Practitioner, Celeste Toews, attending. We are very excited to be able to offer this service to our community and area residents. This was made possible through partnerships with the Village of Glaslyn, North Saskatchewan Regional Municipal Health Holdings, and Prairie North Health Region.

In addition to the large number of amenities, Glaslyn also has recreational facilities such as the hockey arena, bowling alley, sports grounds, and a rural municipal operated community hall.

Agriculture and Forestry are the two main industries in the community; however, the Eco-Tourism industry is quickly advancing with many outfitters in the community.

With an unlimited water supply, Glaslyn has residential and commercial lots available for sale and plenty of opportunity for new industry.

Stop in at our Museum for a rest on your drive through or pay a visit to one of our local businesses, who are eager to serve you. The people here will go above and beyond to help and make you feel welcome.
